What do you Notice? Science through Observation and Documentation with Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers

Careful observation—slowing down, noticing details, and using all of our senses—is the foundation of science. And children ages 0–5 are already doing this naturally, all the time! In this workshop, we will share practical activities, strategies, and tips for capturing young children’s learning and for supporting children as they strengthen their own observation and documentation skills. Through illustrative examples from classrooms and from educators who have participated in EC STEM Lab’s professional learning over the years, we will explore how everyday moments can become powerful science opportunities. Attendees will leave this webinar inspired to notice science everywhere—and equipped to help every young learner do the same.
