To best serve young children, VAAEYC is an active participant in advocacy and public policy discussions. The public policy circle researches and advocates on issues that affect the care and education of young children in Virginia. VAAEYC encourages all Early Childhood Educators to advocate for their profession and the children you serve.

Public Policy issues and advocacy are fluid and the most up-to-date information is posted on VAAEYC’s Facebook page HERE. Information and critical advocacy needs are time sensitive so be sure to follow us to know when action is needed!

The VAAEYC Public Policy Circle is actively engaged in several key policy initiatives aimed at improving early childhood education in Virginia:

Increased Funding for Early Childhood Programs: We are advocating for increased state and federal funding to ensure that all children have access to high-quality early learning environments. This includes support for preschool programs, childcare centers, and family childcare providers.

Professional Development for Educators: We believe that well-trained educators are the cornerstone of effective early childhood education. Our efforts include promoting policies that provide ongoing professional development opportunities for early childhood educators, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to support children’s development.

Access and Equity: Ensuring equitable access to early childhood education is a top priority. We are working to address disparities in access to high-quality programs, particularly for children from low-income families and under served communities.
