1. THE UNIFIED COMMUNICATION TOOL
The "Unified Communication" page is where you will find all of your chats and discussion groups. This page will open in its own window, and remain open so that you may receive notifications and monitor chat while also attending sessions or perusing other areas of the conference venue.
- To open/close the list of chat and groups on the left, click on the three-line menu next to "Unified Communication".
- New notifications will be listed by clicking on the bell to the right. There will also be an audible alert if enabled.
- Attendees with a GREEN dot on their profile are online. Attendees with a RED dot are offline.
GUIDELINES FOR CHAT & DISCUSSION GROUPS
- Please be mindful - while an attendee may be “online”, they may be participating in a conference session. Please be courteous and allow a reasonable amount of time for chat requests to be accepted. Attendees seeking CEUs in particular need to be attentive during sessions.
- Don’t use the discussion forums to air grievances. Please communicate directly with show staff using the contact information at the Help Desk.
2. DISCUSSION GROUPS
Discussion groups are a feature that will allow attendees to convene and chat as a group, organized around a set topic, session, or time. There are two ways to join a discussion group:
- From The Auditorium, find the session or agenda item and select it. Under its description on the right, you will find a "Discussion Chat" button.
After clicking, your chat screen will open in another window, and open the Discussion Group. The name of the group you have joined will be listed on the left; enter chat in the text bar at the bottom and click the blue button to submit; use the red "Leave Chat" button on the right to exit the chat.
2. Discussion Group, when available, can also be added directly from the Unified Communication screen. Click the "+" symbol, and when open you will be able to join groups.
3. PRIVATE CHAT - TEXT & VIDEO
There are two ways to create/join a private chat.
- To chat with a vendor, you may visit their booth in the Vendor Marketplace and initiate chat. Learn more here.
- You may also start or join a chat with any other attendee - vendor, speaker, staff or attendee - from the Unified Communications window.
- Start the chat by searching for the other user by clicking on the magnifying glass next to "Private Chats". This will open the search box.
2. After finding the correct person, click the blue chat button to initiate the chat.
3. Your chat will then display in the larger chat window. A list of your private chats will appear on the left. Once a text chat is live, you will then have the option to activate a video chat, using the blue button on the right. Leave the chat with the red button on the right.
